Moncks Corner, SC, is a town in Berkley County and named for landowner Thomas Monck, situated in the Charleston-North Charleston–Summerville Metropolitan Statistical Area. 

January 6, 1732, Thomas monk acquired property, a plantation called “Mitton.” It was on this property that the First Village became what is now known as Monck’s Corner. With its geographical location not laid out, different roads, and essential routes, the town emerged. Soon several stores and large establishments (some even originated in Charleston) Moncks Corner was known as commercial importance. After the expansion of the Thomas Monks Family businesses. A dry goods rum bar, advertised in the South Carolina Gazette, the store would be moved “to the corner” as soon as the new building could fit. With the development of the Santee Canal and the opening of new roads, the Old Village of Monck’s Corner saw a decline. The completion of the Northeastern Railroad caused the development of a new settlement called “Moncks Corner,” which includes the “Old” Monck’s Corner and the “Mitton” Plantation of Thomas Monck.

According to Wikipedia, its distance is approximately 32 miles from Charleston and 16 miles from Summerville. The town’s boundary extends east to the West Branch of the Cooper River and 3 miles (5 km) south of the outlet of Lake Moultrie. Moncks Corner’s total population is 7,885, as stated by the U.S. Census Bureau, and it has a total area of 7.4 square miles, surrounded by water. With its mild climate all year, outdoor activities are abundant, such as horseback riding, hiking, water sports, boating, and freshwater fishing.
