Ski Resort Getaways – The cure for those Winter Blues

So, Christmas and New Year’s may be over, that doesn’t mean we have to wait until spring for that memorable vacation/holiday. Winter is still an excellent time to get away; with Valentine’s Day coming up, now may be a good time to think about a lovely romantic getaway weekend or a group of folks just hanging out.   I don’t know about you, but when I think of winter getaways, a holiday, I envision mountains, sipping on hot chocolate by a lovely warm fireplace (or champaign, you get the gist tho.) Sitting in that cozy log cabin, looking outside and watching the skiers get off the lift and fly down the slopes. Okay, I know what you’re thinking (I don’t ski or don’t have a desire)—from snow tubing, renting a snowmobile, or ice fishing, they’re all stimulating activities to do outdoors for everyone. If the outdoors isn’t your thing, you can always opt for indoor activities such as art galleries, spa, fitness, indoor rock climbing, swimming, restaurants, lounges, or an indoor water park.   With so much more to do, you may want to plan a visit to one of these ski destinations — even if you don’t ski. Here’s some seasonal inspiration for your winter adventures.

Aspen Colorado

The lyrics “Rocky Mountain High” was inspired by John Denver’s experience here. Located in the rocky mountains, Aspen has four different ski areas which span over 5,500 square feet. No wonder this is called This is a skier’s dream. It’s one of the country’s top destinations. However, there’s just as much to do for non-skiers as for ski buffs

Lake Tahoe – Neveda and California

This Sierra Nevada mountain resort is home to one of the largest alpine lakes in North America. Some of the best scenery all year long, although winter is the best time to come and explore everything  Lake Tahoe has to offer, even for the non-skier. For more exquisite views, take a helicopter flight over the lake, cross-country skiing, and snowshoe hiking provide a way to beat the crowds without skidding face-first down a mountain.

Stowe – Vermont

Here you can experience the classic ski trip on a minor note. Mt. Mansfield is the highest in the state. For the non-skier, there is an abundance of activities to do. Try your hands at ice skating or dog sledding. While you’re there, explore Stowe itself, home to charming independent boutiques, galleries, and museums. Finally, of course, you can’t come here without taking a drive to the Ben & Jerry’s factory.

Omni Mount Washington Resort – Mt. Washington Valley, New Hampshire

Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. This resort was named the #1 Ski resort on the East Coast by Conde Nast Traveler and has seen the likes of celebrities and presidents. However, with an array of activities, such as relaxing at the spa, ziplining, and a lot more, you may not want to put on skies.

Don’t let the winter blues get you down; instead, opt for your favorite ski
destinations. To ski or not to ski, that is the question.
