Everyone knows about the Las Vegas Strip; you may even know about Freemont Street (I just heard of it two weeks before I was going out there.) But Ellis Island is the place to go. We found out about it, asking for a nice breakfast place. Now, I know what you’re thinking; what does this have to do with Vegas? After all, Ellis Island is a site on the New York Harbor that served as an immigration station. (It closed in 1924.) Those of you who saw the movie “Hitch” may recall the scene when it was mentioned.
Ellis Island in Vegas is a modern budget hotel located a block from the Bellagio. It features a casino and Restaurant. Although it’s not directly on the strip, it’s in proximity to it. The Village pub is moderately priced, which features breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the bar features Poker table games, including Black Jack, Keno, and other games. (Blackjack is my game) Unlike the bars at the casino on the strip, the bartenders keep your glasses full unless you indicate such. There’s also karaoke if you want to try your hands at singing.
Ellis Island is Vegas’ best-kept secret and Family owned. You can drink, play, Eat and sing all under one roof. You are so situated away from the hustle and bustle of the strip, yet close enough to the action of the world’s most famous street. It may not have the glitz and glamour or the tons of activities you will find on Freemont Street, but if you’re looking for great food, fun, games, warm atmosphere without the crowd, then Vegas’s best-kept secret is the place to be.
